This project focused on creating a bold, contemporary boundary that provides full privacy while making a strong design statement within the garden. The centrepiece is a full-length horizontal timber screen, constructed using cedar boards fixed in a staggered, overlapping pattern to give the fence a distinctive, architectural quality. The warm natural tones of the cedar bring richness and texture to the space, sitting in contrast with the darker elements below.
At the base of the screen, a raised planter was constructed using dark slate-effect walling, forming a clean, angular bed that runs the full length of the fence line. The planter adds depth and separation between the lawn and the boundary, while providing a home for low-growing shrubs and seasonal planting that soften the transition between hard and soft landscaping.
The freshly laid lawn in the foreground completes the composition, its vibrant green providing a natural contrast against the dark retaining wall and warm timber above. Every element has been considered as part of a whole — the result is a garden boundary that feels far more than functional. It offers privacy and enclosure without compromise, built with quality materials and an eye for detail that gives the space a finished, considered feel throughout.
